Olivia Trummer possesses a soulful voice of pristine quality and displays a feathery, understated lyricism on the keys, effortlessly wielding the two assets with the creativity of a born improviser. Recipient of the prestigious Jazz Award Baden-Württemberg in 2019, she fascinates equally as a pianist, singer, composer and songwriter. In her songs, she creates a poetic, at times philosophical universe completely her own. She leaves a mark with her lyrics exposing a very personal view on love and letting go while arbitrating between mind and heart.
In her solo concerts, the classically trained musician draws from a wide musical spectrum: Performing original songs as well as her own takes of songs from The Great American Songbook, she is blending jazz, pop and singer-songwriter elements into a unique and optimistic cosmos. With her arrangements of works by J.S.Bach and W.A.Mozart she is also establishing a connection to Classical Music.

Water, an essential element for life, can fill any container, from a simple glass to the oceans of the world, without permanently assuming its form. Equally, Olivia Trummer's music is in constant motion and crosses the boundaries between different genres with extreme fluidity and transparency. With her new album “Like Water”, recorded in New York City under the guidance of legendary American producer Russ Titelman, the German pianist, singer and composer, accepts the challenge to show her musical nature in its entireness, proving that the coexistence of different musical worlds can be more than the mere sum of its parts but indeed a veritable synthesis.

The album features her as a solo performer whose singing, delicate and powerful at the same time, joins forces with her absolute mastery of the piano. Song by song she gradually interweaves all her nuances into one broad flow that covers a wide stylistic range: from classical music (Bach and Beethoven) to improvisation. From jazz and Broadway songs (Jerome Kern, Leonard Bernstein...) to her original compositions and pop (Stevie Wonder, Brenda Russell...). 12 real song gems in which the familiar turns into the surprising, and the new soon becomes familiar.
