VITA
The pianist, singer and composer Olivia Trummer cannot be tied to genre, nor to geographical coordinates. With keys and voice she forms completely new connections between the genres for which she has already received numerous awards, i.e. the prestigious Jazz Award Baden-Württemberg ands Jazz Award Ingolstadt. Hailing from a musicians' family, she started studying classical piano at age 4 and soon after became passionate about improvising and composing as well. She eventually studied and graduated in Jazz Piano and Classical Piano from the University of Music in Stuttgart and went on to pursue a Master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City with a full DAAD scholarship. Her formative years spent in the jazz metropolis of New York City and her close connection to European classical music have always served as ongoing sources of inspiration.
Olivia Trummer is active as a performer worldwide, mostly as a soloist and bandleader of her own projects, but also as a member i.e. of Kurt Rosenwinkel’s project „Caipi“ and other formations. She has released 11 albums under her name and with her original music to date, the last three being released on the label Warner Music Italy. Occasionally, she takes on or initiates projects dedicated to blending classical music with jazz and improvisation, like on her album „Classical To Jazz“ (2015) or as a soloist with orchestra, performing Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy including an improvised introduction for the Opening of the Beethoven Year with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn (Dec 2019) or a Haydn Piano Concerto with improvised cadenzas (April 2024) with the Reutlingen Philharmonics.
Olivia performed at festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, GroundUp Festival, London Jazz Fest, in venues like the Birdland NYC, Blue Note Tokyo, Shanghai & Milan, Ronnie Scott’s, Konzerthaus Wien & Berlin and shared the stage with the likes of Kurt Rosenwinkel, Eric Clapton and Bobby McFerrin. Further collaborations include the NDR Bigband, SWR Bigband, Magnus Lindgren, Obed Calvaire, Matt Penman, Jimmy Cobb, Tim Garland, Hadar Noiberg, Fabrizio Bosso, Mario Biondi, Luciano Biondini, Rosario Bonaccorso, Gabriele Mirabassi.
Since 2024, she is collaborating with American producer Russ Titelman, a 3-times Grammy-winner, known for his work with Eric Clapton, Randy Newman, Rickie Lee Jones and many others. After discovering Olivias videos on YouTube he contacted her and went on to produce her 11th album „Like Water“.
