VITA
Hailing from a musicians' family, Olivia Trummer started studying classical piano at age 4 and immediately became passionate about improvising and composing as well. She eventually studied and graduated both in Jazz Piano and Classical Piano at the University of Music in Stuttgart and went on to pursue a Master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. The formative years spent in the jazz metropole alongside with her deep connection to classical music serve as ongoing sources of inspiration within her own musical universe.
Initially known mostly for her pianism and compositions, Olivia has emerged also as a vocalist and songwriter / lyricist, receiving much praise from the international audience and press. By now, she is seen as one rare example of a European pianist-vocalist-composer “who can compete - still the gold standard - with US American musicians” (Jazzpodium). This is underlined by an exciting new collaboration with legendary American producer Russ Titelman. Having worked with Eric Clapton, Rickie Lee Jones, Randy Newman, George Benson, Steve Winwood, Chaka Khan and many more and won 3 Grammies over the course of his long-spanning career, he contacted Olivia in 2024 to suggest a collaboration. Hence, 2025 will see the release of Olivia’s 11th album: A solo album on piano and vocals titled “Like Water”, recorded in New York and produced by Russ Titelman. After “For You” and “Dialogue’s Delight”, it is her third release for the Warner Music Italy label.
Olivia is performing internationally and has enthused audiences in many countries, including Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, China, Denmark, Austria, Ireland, England, France, Switzerland, Israel and Czech Republic. Her often genre-crossing projects have been featured at renown concert venues as the Carnegie Hall (NYC), Konzerthaus (Berlin), Porgy & Bess (Vienna), The National Concert Hall (Dublin), Pizza Express Live (London), Teatro Fenice (Venice) or Teatro Capovolto (Trento) and at festivals like the Jazz Fest London, Umbria Jazz, Time in Jazz, Jazz Open Stuttgart, Jazzfest Bonn, JazzMi Milano, Venezia Jazz Festival, Galway Jazz Festival, Fränkischer Sommer, Ludwigsburg Festival, Jazz Open Hamburg, International Jazz Summer Augsburg, Bachfest Ansbach.
Apart from mostly leading her own projects, she was also touring worldwide with Kurt Rosenwinkel for eight years as a member of his project „Caipi“, performing at venues and festivals like the Montreux Jazz Festival, Montréal Jazz Festival, Vancouver Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s (London), Blue Note (Beijing, Tokyo), "New Morning (Paris). Further collaborations include the DR Bigband, Miho Hazama, NDR Bigband, SWR Bigband, Magnus Lindgren, Beethoven-Orchester Bonn, Matt Penman, Obed Calvaire, Jimmy Cobb, Bobby McFerrin, Mario Biondi, Nicola Angelucci, Rosario Bonaccorso, Fabrizio Bosso, Tim Garland, Bodek Janke, Hadar Noiberg, Jean-Lou Treboux, to name a few.
